Dodge Dana 60 Front Spring Plate and U-Bolt Kit, (PM7151-DODGED60F)

Dodge Dana 60 front spring plate and U-bolt kit.  This kit includes p/s and d/s spring plates, the two studs for the housing on the p/s, the 4" U-bolt for the p/s, and the two 3-1/8" U-bolts for the d/s.  
 

Specifications

• (1) DM5055 - Dodge P/S spring plate (GM and Dodge are different!!!)
• (1) DM5051 - Universal spring plate
• (2) 5/8"-18 x 3-1/8" x 8" round tube U-bolt (inside of leg to inside of leg and axle side of U-bolt to end of threads)
• (1) 5/8"-18 x 4" x 10" round tube U-bolt (inside of leg to inside of leg and axle side of U-bolt to end of threads)
• (2) DM5055-STUD - 9/16"-18 AND 9/16"-12 stud for housing (each stud has two different thread pitches).  If yours are 5/8", you've got a GM, and the studs and p/s spring plates in THIS kit fit a Dodge!!!
• (6) 5/8" hardened flat washers
• (2) 9/16" hardened flat washers
• (6) 5/8"-18 x 1" tall nuts
• (2) 9/16"-18 Stover nuts

Measuring Tips:

Measure from the bottom of the leaf spring to the top of your leaf spring plate.  The nut and washer will take up exactly 1" of threads, so be sure to include that.  For example, if you measure 6" (bottom of axle tube to top of spring plate), add 1" for the nut and washer, you'll have 1" of thread still showing on an eight inch u-bolt.

U-bolts are a commonly abused, and very important, part on four wheel drive vehicles.  For those very reasons they are engineered to go above and beyond their call of duty.  We take great pride in specifying the correct requirements so that our U-bolts stand up to the abuse.  However few people understand why they are designed the way they are, and if you're interested, read on!  Everyone's seen the tall nuts on U-bolts, but why are they different?  Can you just use a normal nut, or even better yet a locking nut? NO!  When you properly torque the nuts down onto the spring plate the threads on the U-bolt stretch.  This creates a mechanical locking system.  If you've reused them in the past, and have the problem of your nuts backing off, it's because you're not supposed to reuse them.
